Trump wants to get rid of the Tesla he bought to show support for Elon Musk, White House says

WASHINGTON — President Trump is planning on dispensing with all traces of Elon Musk, including the Tesla he bought at full price not even three months ago.

The president is looking to sell or give away the red Tesla Model S purchased to great fanfare on March 11, a White House official confirmed to The Post Friday.

The vehicle is parked in the White House lot and was meant for staff use, since Trump is not permitted to drive due to strict security protocols.

Trump bought the Tesla in a show of support for Musk, whose vehicles, charging stations and dealerships were the object of attacks by far-left hooligans.

“We’re going to catch them, they’re bad guys,” Trump said at the time in reference to perps taking flamethrowers and Molotov cocktails to the cars and infrastructure.

“We’re going to catch you, and you’re going to go through hell.”

The Model S retails at a starting price of about $80,000, although the version the president bought appeared to cost more than $100,000.

The 78-year-old also claimed in March to have bought his granddaughter Kai a CyberTruck, which he said had the “coolest design.”

“I think [Musk has] been treated very unfairly by a very small group of people. And I just want people to know that he can’t be penalized for being a patriot,” Trump said at the time.

Any good feeling between the two men is likely gone after Musk stepped up his criticism of the Trump-backed “Big, Beautiful Bill” — and then called for the impeachment of the president and a new political party to challenge the GOP.

The president responded by threatening to pull Musk’s government contracts and claiming the former Department of Government Efficiency lodestar was suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome” after departing government work last week.
